Week 22: January 29-February 2

Welcome:  The second quarter has gone and gone and we are onto the second half of the school year! The third quarter is when we discuss the process of industrialization in America and this week's video fits perfectly with our theme because it uses steam to talk about effort. The video we watched on Friday is called "212 The Extra Degree" from Simple Truths.  This Past Week:  Lyddie: We spent some time watching an incredibly cheesy, yet highly informational movie about the early industrialization in the United States. While laughing at the movie, the students can uncover what working conditions were like in early textile mills and some of the motivations that drove young women to work in the early 1800s.  Industrialization & Urbanization Drawing: We also spent a good deal of time creating and changing villages in the 1800s. The students were asked to draw their own version of a typical village in the early 1800s. We then made a series of additions and changes to their
