 Welcome:  Another week down and some more resources shared with the students for high school! The students watched the two videos found below to help them make course selections for the high school on Friday. All course selections are due by January 30 and the counselors will be in our class on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, to help with the students. Here is a rising 9th-grade "to-do" list and a checklist from the high school guidance department to help with the process. 

 Welcome  Happy Friday Maroon Team families! We are now two school weeks into the new calendar year and the students have already started some major thinking about next year! Course recommendations for core area teachers were due this past week and on Friday the students watched a video about the electives that are available to the students in the high school.  This Past Week:  Here's a quick rundown of what we did this past week:  Monday:  On Monday the students started to investigate the history of the interaction between the various Native American tribes in the west and the United States government as our nation expanded. The students started working in collaborative groups to help identify and explain 32 different terms related to this unit.   Tuesday: The students finalized their terms today and we reviewed and discussed them by playing a Gimkit to help them make sense of the events.  Wednesday:  The students did an activity called an "Iron Chef Eduprotocol" today. 

 Welcome:  Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are off to a happy and healthy new year. As we turn the calendar to 2023 it's also time to really start thinking about next year for our students (I know, it seems insane). Teachers are finalizing their initial course recommendations for the students for next year (this can change) and the students will be taking time to pick electives over the next few days.  I actually showed two videos this week--one on Tuesday when we returned and one on Friday as we ended the week. Tuesday's video goes back to one of my favorite content creators--Prince EA. The video is all about helping to set goals and make this year your best year yet. Following in that theme was Friday's video--"I will teach you to become LIMITLESS" by Swami Sarvapriyananda.
